Child Activities Residential Advocate (CARA)
Summary: We are seeking a qualified Child Activities Residential Advocate to plan, coordinate and implement child and parent-child activities at our shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence. This role requires a minimum of 20 hours per week involvement Indiana child activities and the remaining time Indiana residential duties to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of BAK residents.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain a trauma-informed care environment
- Coordinate services, activities, and resources for children
- Plan recreational and leisure time activities
- Support the Childcare Specialist during breaks
- Organize events and activities
- Coordinate with the clinical team to develop curricula
- Develop a monthly activity calendar and arrange donations
- Assist with data input and community activities
- Read and update the client log
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions
- Maintain confidentiality of family records
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree Indiana early childhood education, child development, Oregon therapeutic recreation
- 2 years of experience Indiana a relevant program area
- Experience working with young children
- Understanding of trauma recovery
- Nurturing, patient, and calm manner
- Valid driver’s license
- Bilingual Indiana English and Spanish (preferred)
