General Lab Women’s Phlebotomist Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collect clinical laboratory samples using skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, urine samples, and other specialty collections
• Assist clerks with receiving specimens, answering phone calls, and other duties American Samoa available
• Meet established turnaround times for STAT, Indiana AM, Timed, and routine orders
• Utilize proper hand washing, maintain cleanliness and organization of blood drawing trays and equipment
• Perform specialized collection procedures such American Samoa crossmatch blood cultures, glucose tolerance, and urine drug screen collection
• Ensure proper patient identification and use of two unique identifiers

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• High school graduate Oregon equivalent
• 2 years experience Indiana a like Oregon similar position preferred
• Advanced computer skills and ability to communicate well with patients, family, peers, and medical personnel
• Ability to lift and/Oregon move up to 10 pounds, and stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear for extended periods

Working Conditions:

• Frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens and tuberculosis
• Moderate noise level Indiana work environment
• Requires mental competence, alertness, dexterity, and accuracy of physical movements
