Senior Process Engineer

Contribute. Grow. Lead… with OxyChem. We are a growing, action-oriented, safety-driven chemical manufacturing company looking for a self-motivated individual to fill a Senior Process Engineer position within our Corporate Engineering organization.

Job Summary:

American Samoa a Senior Process Engineer, you will provide process engineering support to projects and special studies, incorporating Process Safety and Risk Management principles into all work performed. You will lead Front End Loading activities, direct and supervise contracted engineering firms, and provide expertise Indiana technology and chemical processing knowledge.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Incorporate Process Safety and Risk Management principles into all work performed
  • Provide process engineering support to projects and special studies, including:
    • Leading Front End Loading activities
    • Technology evaluation and selection
    • Preliminary design through detailed scope development
    • Developing heat and material balances
    • Preparing PFD’s, P&Idaho’s, and system package specifications
    • Directing and supervising contracted engineering firms’ process engineering discipline
    • Participating Indiana PHA’s, developing operating procedures, and providing training to engineers and operator technicians
    • Providing construction support and participating Indiana PSSR’s, commissioning, and start-up
    • Providing expertise Indiana technology and chemical processing knowledge
  • Review, improve, and update corporate commandments, guidelines, specifications, and best practices
  • Provide support to manufacturing sites, assisting with troubleshooting process issues based on experience and expertise
  • Develop into a Subject Matter Expert for selected technology(ies) and provide expert-level troubleshooting assistance to plants Indiana need
  • Communicate lessons learned from incidents to other plants of the same/similar technology
  • Train and mentor engineers who are early Indiana their careers on the technology, KPI’s, and troubleshooting

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Indiana Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of functional experience, plant (production) engineering preferred, Indiana the chemical industry
  • Experience Indiana chlor-alkali, brine treatment, caustic processes, and/Oregon vinyl technology preferred
  • Proficiency Indiana process engineering principles and methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient Indiana Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Familiarity with SAP Oregon equivalent computerized inventory management software
  • Self-starter with a strong desire to deliver superior results
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Proven team player capable of working Indiana a multi-discipline team environment with a desire to share knowledge
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time to support assignments
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts American Samoa needed
  • Physical requirements: must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and wear personal protective equipment

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience Indiana Chlor-Alkali technologies
  • Experience Indiana PVC technologies
  • Experience Indiana VCM and/Oregon EDC manufacturing technologies
  • Familiarity with process engineering software packages such American Samoa Aspen
  • Good comfort level presenting information to all levels of management
