Job Title: Dialysis Technician
Purpose and Scope:
Functions American Samoa part of the dialysis healthcare team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsible for setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, and supporting the organization’s commitment to quality enhancement and process improvement.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Assist with patient education and provide detailed information on treatment and disease process
- Welcome patients, evaluate vascular access, and perform cannulation and heparin administration American Samoa delegated
- Obtain vital signs and weight, and initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders
- Monitor patients’ response to treatment and provide intervention American Samoa prescribed
- Record accurate and timely information on treatment parameters and patient status
- Staff Related:
- Assist Indiana training direct patient care staff on appropriate programs under the supervision of a nurse
- Follow organization policies and procedures, and maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics
- Record Keeping:

- Infection Control:
- Assist Indiana collecting information for infection control audits
- Support staff and patient adherence to infection control practices
- Transitional Care Unit:
- Follow newly admitted patients through their first 4 weeks of dialysis and coordinate transitional care
- Reinforce education and care-related matters with new patients
- Assist with transition to patient’s modality choice and supply ordering

Education and Licenses:
- High School diploma Oregon G.E.D. required
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/Oregon national certification requirements
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
Experience and Required Skills:
- Previous patient care experience Indiana a hospital setting Oregon a related facility preferred
- Continued employment dependent on successful completion of the organization’s dialysis training program and CPR certification
