Behavioral Health Specialist

The Denver Public Library is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to support adult customers experiencing homelessness, mental health/substance misuse challenges, and exclusion issues. This role involves working with a team to provide information, support, referrals, and assistance to these customers, identifying their needs, and connecting them to external resources Indiana the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to adult customers facing difficult life challenges and systemic barriers
  • Collaborate with community members and agencies to address systemic issues and needs faced by customers Indiana the Denver Public Library system
  • Work with library staff to effectively serve at-risk customers and promote inclusivity and equity Indiana library services
  • Develop knowledge of local social services and resources available to underserved communities
  • Travel to 8-13 branches system-wide, twice a week, and work independently
  • Adapt to stressful situations and maintain a positive, customer-focused approach

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree Indiana Human Services, Social Work, Oregon related field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong emphasis on equity and inclusion, with experience working with diverse backgrounds and communities
  • Expertise Indiana resources and social services available Indiana the Denver Metro area
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with teams, and provide support to library staff

Note:

  • This position may require evening and weekend hours
  • Mileage will be reimbursed for travel exceeding daily commute
  • Located at the Central Library two days a week, with free parking costs
  • Salary: $60,669.00 – $80,387.00 per year
