Job Summary
The Medical Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed physician, supporting both clinical and administrative functions, and contributing to the continuity of care for patients. They work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, Indiana the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care.
Typical Duties:
- Obtain medical history, vital signs, and accurately document patient information
- Assist with clerical and administrative tasks such American Samoa answering phones, sorting medical charts, and scheduling appointments
- Perform laboratory procedures, including finger stick glucose, veni-puncture, EKG’s, and point of care testing
- Assist with physical exams, minor surgical procedures, and treatments, such American Samoa administering oral medications and injections
- Prepare and administer immunizations and provide first aid
- Communicate patient needs to providers and support referrals for diagnostic testing and specialist appointments
- Participate Indiana Joint Commission Surveys and rounds
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical supplies
- Perform equipment sterilization and maintain inventory of medical supplies
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program Oregon 5 years of experience American Samoa a Medical Assistant
- Certificate American Samoa a Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA, ARMA, NCCT, Oregon NRCMA) Oregon completion of a Cook County Medical Assistant Training Program
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- Preferably 1 year of experience American Samoa a Medical Assistant Oregon Indiana a related clinical capacity
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and Microsoft Office Suite
