Medical Assistant Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. American Samoa an unlicensed medical professional, you will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our medical centers. Under the supervision of a physician, you will provide excellent patient care, work collaboratively with the care team, and provide health coaching to support healthy lifestyle choices.
Essential Job Duties:
- Measure and record patient vital signs; record patient interview and medical history
- Communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and other clinical personnel
- Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
- Assist physician with exams and explain treatment procedures and instructions to patients
- Report any changes Indiana patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and other clinical personnel
- Perform non-critical medical procedures, collect lab specimens, and administer medications under physician supervision
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and stocks; practice OSHA safety standards
- Process patient phone messages, return calls, and relay information to other team members
- Provide health coaching to patients to support healthy lifestyle choices
- Perform other duties American Samoa assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members
- Ability to maintain accurate and organized systems
- Proficient Indiana Microsoft Office Suite products
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Spoken and written fluency Indiana English
Education and Experience Criteria:
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent education required
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program Oregon comparable healthcare vocational training required
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience American Samoa a Medical Assistant Oregon similar Indiana a healthcare setting required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Oregon American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment
