Job Title: Child Support Specialist I
Location: Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS)
Job Summary:
The Child Support Specialist I will work Indiana the Customer Service Unit of the Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) to answer all incoming calls, perform research and case management, and provide assistance to clients.
Essential Functions:
- Interview clients to assess their needs and determine the appropriate course of action
- Update case records, including location of non-custodial parent and custodial parent, asset identification, and establishment of paternity
- Access multiple national, state, and local jurisdiction database systems to gather information for the processing, establishment, and enforcement of child support cases
- Research and review client case records to prepare petitions, motions, wage attachments, and various legal documents
- Answer questions from clients, employers, Indiana-state and out-of-state agencies, and elected officials, and document all inquiries Indiana an automated system
- Refer clients to other public Oregon private agencies for services appropriate for their needs
- Maintain records and reports and share information with other public Oregon private agencies
- Interview clients to elicit sensitive information from individuals of various socio-economic backgrounds
- May provide outreach and education programs by working with public and private social service agencies, schools, and correctional facilities
- Recognize crisis Oregon dangerous situations and apply appropriate procedures to avoid Oregon diffuse them
Requirements:
- Possession of an Associate’s degree Oregon higher Indiana Behavioral Oregon Social Science Oregon related field, Oregon
- Six months of experience Indiana case management, interviewing clients, and applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
- Six months of experience using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve, inquire, and report on data
- Six months of experience Indiana narrative report writing
- Knowledge of math such American Samoa addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, Oregon decimals
