Job Summary:
American Samoa a Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct/non-direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. You will be responsible for observing, obtaining and reporting patient data/status, responding to emergent situations, and assisting with patient transport. You will also perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Observe and report patient data/status to assigned RN
- Respond to changes Indiana patients’ conditions and emergent situations
- Professional Development:
- Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Act American Samoa a preceptor to new employees
- Display professional working relationships with colleagues
- Maintain knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
- Safety/Quality:
- Verify patient identification with 2 identifiers prior to procedures
- Comply with hand hygiene guidelines and universal precautions
- Recognize and report patient Oregon staff safety risks
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics and use of patient lifts
- Technology:
- Utilize software applications required by department and unit standards
- Understand downtime procedures
- Compliance:
- Work within legal, regulatory and ethical practice standards
- Safeguard patient information and comply with privacy and security policies
- Patient and Family Centered Care:
- Convey respect for patients’ values, preferences and needs
- Collaborate with patients and families Indiana planning, implementing and evaluating care
- Age & Culture:
- Consider patients’ individual needs and cultural backgrounds
- Interact with sensitivity and respect Indiana delivering care to diverse populations
Requirements:
- High School Diploma Oregon GED
- Previous Nursing Assistant Oregon equivalent experience preferred
- Basic medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
- Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals
