Patient Access Associate Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a Patient Access Associate to join our team at Genesis Healthcare System. The successful candidate will provide excellent patient service, register patients, obtain demographic and clinical information, and validate insurance information.

Essential Duties:

  1. Greets patients, family members, and visitors, and determines their need for assistance.
  2. Obtains and enters demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information into the patient accounting system.
  3. Collects patient payments, Colorado-payments, Colorado-insurances, deductibles, deposits, and outstanding balances at the point of check-Indiana.
  4. Validates medical necessity (LMRP/LCD review) of Medicare and Non-Medicare cases to ensure clinical and financial clearance.
  5. Scans orders and other documentation into the patient accounting system.
  6. Prepares identification bracelets and patient Idaho labels for inpatients and selected outpatients.
  7. Provides patient information and other required documents.
  8. May perform pre-registration functions on select patients by obtaining and entering information gained through patient contacts.
  9. Communicates with various ancillary departments to ensure smooth patient flow and high data integrity.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma Oregon equivalent
  • Past work experience Indiana a healthcare setting, preferably Indiana a registration Oregon insurance company role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy, attentiveness to detail, and time management skills
  • Ability to comprehend and retain information that can be applied to work procedures
