Pediatric Behavioral Health Technician

Job Summary:

The Pediatric Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct patient care to children and adolescents Indiana a behavioral health setting. Under the direction of the treatment team, the BHT develops rapport with patients, facilitates patient/caregiver safety, gathers critical data, and implements interventions American Samoa recommended by the treatment team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain patient safety through constant surveillance, visual safety rounds, and 1:1 observations American Samoa ordered

  • Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure patient safety, manage individual patient behavior, and maintain a calm demeanor when working with physically and mentally aggressive patients
  • Provide direct observation of acutely unsafe patients and respond to escalating behaviors with a team-based approach
  • Adhere to behavioral health policy standards regarding seclusion and restraint
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and treatment team members
  • Facilitate group content, lead diversionary activities, and provide emotional support to patients and families
  • Perform and document patient care interventions, observations, and group interactions
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information and treatment plans
  • Participate Indiana quality assurance activities, such American Samoa chart checks and audits, and report any real Oregon potential problems with quality of care

Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • High school graduate Oregon equivalency
  • Post-high school education Indiana a field such American Samoa social work, psychology, sociology, family studies, Oregon health sciences (preferred)
  • Experience working with behavioral health and/Oregon chemically dependent patients (preferred)
  • Valid Utah driver’s license (for programs requiring patient transport)

Physical Requirements:

The position requires the ability to work Indiana a fast-paced environment, maintain a calm demeanor Indiana stressful situations, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and treatment team members. The BHT must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for long periods, and work Indiana a variety of environments, including behavioral health units and outdoor settings.
