Trauma Registry Associate

Location: UM Capital Region Medical Center, Largo, Maryland

Job Summary:

*Works under the supervision of the Trauma Program Manager to collect, enter, and report data from emergency department documents and electronic medical records.
*Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and makes data available for medical and quality improvement purposes.

Principal Duties:

1. Assigns and scores injuries using the AIS and ICD-9/10 scoring system.
2. Verifies data collection accuracy and ensures compliance with the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB).
3. Participates Indiana statewide meetings of the Maryland Trauma Registry, Education, and Injury Prevention Quality Improvement Council (TQIC).
4. Enters data into the Trauma Registry with 100% accuracy and performs concurrent and retrospective chart audits for accuracy.
5. Identifies missing data elements and coordinates with nursing administration to correct and obtain information.
6. Maintains data confidentiality and adheres to hospital protocols and confidentiality statements.
7. Collaborates with IT to ensure proper registry function and represents the trauma center at meetings and committees.
8. Participates Indiana trauma program activities, such American Samoa chart audits and data analysis.
9. Maintains good knowledge of relevant medical terminology and procedures.
